Location: Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center - Deadwood

Rick Mills, director of the South Dakota State Railroad Museum, will talk about railroads of the Black Hills. If there is one word that describes the railroads of the Black Hills, it is “variety.” The variety of operations, corporate structures, equipment, and the railroaders themselves have been nothing short of amazing since the day the first steam locomotive whistle was heard in Lead City in 1879. Mills will present a series of images illustrating a digital scrapbook of Black Hills people, places, and trains. Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center; 12:00 noon. Admission by donation.
