Looking for a Kid-Friendly, Family-Friendly Horse Experience in Historic Deadwood, South Dakota?
Look no further than Mel’s Horseback Rides, located just outside of Deadwood!

You’ll find us at 250 US Hwy 14A (technically a Sturgis address, but we’re right on the edge of Deadwood at a beautiful location known as The Venue).

Come meet Boone, our beautiful buckskin Quarter Horse! Boone loves being pampered and petted. Spend some time getting to know him before enjoying a relaxing 5-minute or 10-minute horseback ride. You’ll sit in the saddle while Mel leads you around the scenic property at The Venue.

Bring the whole family! Riders ages 5 and up (yes, adults too!) are welcome—as long as you can comfortably fit in the saddle. Don’t forget to bring your camera! Family and friends are welcome to take photos and videos while you ride, helping you create unforgettable memories of your time in Deadwood.
