Join us for the next Deep Talks lecture featuring Dr. Caleb Ziolkowski, who will share an inside look at one of the world’s most ambitious mountain carving projects: the Crazy Horse Memorial.
As Chief Mountain Officer and grandson of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski, Caleb works at the intersection of engineering, geology, blasting, and large-scale construction to help shape the future of the memorial.
This presentation will explore the technical and logistical challenges involved in carving a mountain-sized sculpture in the Black Hills—from precision blasting and rock stability to long-term planning and modern construction methods. Attendees will gain a behind-the-scenes perspective on the ongoing effort to bring the vision of Crazy Horse Memorial to life.
