Controller for Deadwood Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau

The Deadwood Chamber of Commerce seeks a controller. This is a full-time, salaried position at the Chamber of Commerce that requires a minimum of 2 years bookkeeping/payroll experience; coursework and/or a degree/certification in accounting is preferred. Candidate must be experienced in software such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, and general office equipment. Responsibilities include: Accounts payable and receivable for the Chamber of Commerce and Committees of the Chamber; payroll functions; preparation of monthly financials, reconciliations, budget comparisons, overview and cash flows; maintain and monitor leases, insurance, contracts and agreements, along with 1099 transactions; prepare annual personal property tax and monitor fixed assets throughout the year, among other tasks. The candidate would also serve as the HR manager, and work with other departments within the Chamber on additional projects and major events organized by the Chamber. City of Deadwood Finance Officer

Primary Role and Job Description

The role of the front counter clerk is to provide impeccable customer service. As a clerk for our company, you are primarily, though not exclusively, handling all in-store transactions. Areas of focus will include full shelf conditions, neatly merchandised displays and shelves, building display point-of-sale in all areas of the store, properly rotating products, and accurate pricing of all products. Must have the ability to maintain a neat appearance, accurately operate our POS system and perform monetary operations along with phone operations. This role will also be responsible for handling, decorating and packing all of our chocolates; taking care of inventory shipments to our Rapid City location, along with packaging shipments for delivery worldwide. Other directions or duties will be provided by the front store supervisor. Being a front clerk is a very important part of our reputation and you must like people to perform it well

WORK SCHEDULE:   12 weeks, May-August, 2018 (start and end date to be determined).  Monday-Friday, including occasional Saturday (40 hours per/week).

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Assist the Education Director and Assistant Educator with the creation and execution of all summer youth events sponsored by Deadwood History Inc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be enrolled in college or university for Spring 2018. Education or history experience a plus but not mandatory. Must enjoy working with children in grades K-7th, and be able to communicate effectively with children and adults.

This person will be responsible to work the motel front desk checking guests in, answering telephones, making reservations and basic office duties. Responsible for coordinating and managing all functions related to General Ledger, Revenue Audit, Payroll and Accounts Payable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely entry and payment of all Accounts Payable invoices
  • Daily entry of revenue and expense information into accounting software data base.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to multi-task in a high volume work setting with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related is required.
